The breed is the direct descendant of the famous antique horses - Bactrians, Alans and Massagets. Ancient Persians called these horses the Nisean breed. It was bred in the 4th -3rd centuries BC. The Turkmen are proud of the breed. The historians of Ancient Rome said: These horses are worthy of powerful kings; they are beautiful; they perform well under the rider; they obey the bit easily; they carry their hook-nosed head high, and their golden manes soar in the air with glory. Its height is 160 cm at the withers. The horse is slender. It has the unusual head: a convex forehead, hook-nosed profile, long and thin ears which are widely spaced. The eyes are unusually elongated and have a slanting shape, the so-called Asian eye.
