Dmitry Ivanovich Mendeleev is a Russian encyclopedic scientist.
In 1869, he discovered the periodic law of chemical elements, one of the basic laws of natural science.
He left over 500 printed works, including the classic "Fundamentals of Chemistry" — the first coherent exposition of inorganic chemistry.
D. I. Mendeleev is also the author of fundamental research in physics, metrology, aeronautics, meteorology, agriculture, economics, and public education.
He was the organizer and the first director of the Main Chamber of Weights and Measures.
