Kutkh is the embodiment of the Raven spirit, traditionally revered by various indigenous peoples in the Russian Far East. The image of Kutha appears in many legends. He acts as a key figure in the creation of the world (the creator of the Earth), the progenitor of humanity, a powerful shaman or trickster. Kutkh is a popular hero in the legends of the peoples of Chukotka; he plays a central role in the mythology of the Koryaks and Itelmens of Kamchatka. Many of the stories associated with Kuth are similar to similar stories related to the Crow, common among the indigenous peoples of the northwest coast of North America.
